So now came the time to start creating this masterpiece. I first started with creating a background for the table of contents. I added a light blue to the page to make this the "white space" essentially. I felt like it looked a lot better than keeping it white.
The next thing I did was add my images that I wanted to user after editing them in photoshop. This is how they came out:
The next step after would be making the photos stand out form the background and but also making them blend well. I did this by adding a stroke to each image so that you could tell the differentiate them but also so that the white of the storke would blend well with the light blue of the page. This is how it came out:
After this I started formatting the page, I put the title "Contents" in the top right hand corner and made it the playfair display font, the same font I had been using throughout the whole project.
The I started working on the 2 sections that I would have at the bottom. First was the feature article section on the bottom left of the page. I started by creating the title 'Feature Articles" which was using the same playfair display font. I decided to make all the fonts of the page white. Then for visual purposes, rather than just underlining the subheading, I put it in a box which I think made it look better. Then I had subheadings for my subheadings which were the 2 feature articles of my magazine "The $50 Meal Prep Challenge" and "Ranking Kitchen Essentials:" And for these, I underlined the, rather than the box because this time that one would look better. And finally, I added a brief caption underneath them and what page number to find the articles on. This is how it came out:
The next step was the second subsection, which would be the "Recipe Of The Week." What I did was create a similar title with the words and box around it, but rather than using a complete lateral title, I made the words vertical by layering them on top of each other (you'll see later). Then I made the subheading which was the meal "Creamy Garlic Chicken & Potatoes" and underlined it. And lastly, I added a brief description of the dish underneath in black. This is how it came out:
Now finally, all I had to do was create the actual content in the table of contents. And this is how that also came out:
And now combined everything together, this is how my final table of contents cam out to look like:
